Luang Pu Kalong (B.E. 2461–2552) was a venerable Buddhist monk deeply respected by his disciples throughout Thailand. He studied the Dharma from many respected teachers and focused on spiritual practice combined with creating auspicious objects to support the temple's work. His auspicious objects include Buddha images, amulets, and mythical Himalayan creatures crafted with great refinement. Phaya Khachsihkh is a mythical creature in Thai tradition that combines the characteristics of an elephant and a lion. It is one of the art forms found in Thai craftsmanship for a very long time.
