Description

Phra Chai Watthana cast in mixed samrit and old bronze, created in B.E. 2556 by Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchavora Mahavihar, Bangkok. Made to continue the tradition of casting Phra Kling and Phra Chai Watthana in the Wat Suthat lineage, which originates from Somdet Phra Sangharaja (Pae Tissathevo), honored as the one who established the standards for casting Phra Kling and Phra Chai Watthana in Thailand during the Rattanakosin period. The distinguishing feature of this amulet edition is its casting in mixed samrit and old bronze. Old metal scraps from previous Phra Kling and Phra Chai Watthana castings in the Wat Suthat lineage were melted together to form the material for casting. This continues the temple's ancient tradition of gathering sacred metal scraps from previous amulet castings to be incorporated as part of the mixture in casting new amulets.
