Description

Phra Chai Watthana amulet cast in samurit bronze mixed with old chanuan metal, created in B.E. 2556 by Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchavormahavihara in Bangkok. This amulet was created to continue the tradition of casting Phra Kring and Phra Chai Watthana amulets of Wat Suthat lineage, which originated from Somdet Phra Sangkharat (Pae Tissathevo), who is revered as the one who established the standards for casting Phra Kring and Phra Chai Watthana amulets in Thailand during the Rattanakosin period. The distinctive feature of this edition is its casting in samurit bronze mixed with old chanuan metal. The metal chanuan scrap from previous castings of Phra Kring and Phra Chai Watthana amulets of the Wat Suthat lineage was melted together as the casting material, to inherit the ancient casting formula of the temple, which places importance on collecting sacred metal chanuan from previous amulet castings as part of the mixture in casting new amulets.
