Phra Khun Phaen – Somdej Tham Rangsee, wan material, created in B.E. 2538 by Luang Pu Tham Rangsee of Wat Phra Phutthbat Khao Phanom Din, Surin Province, to allow Buddhists to participate in merit-making and veneration as a keepsake. This auspicious object was cast in the Phra Khun Phaen design using wan material as the primary substance, following the style favored in the forest tradition. Luang Pu Tham Rangsee was a senior monk who played a role in developing Wat Phra Phutthbat Khao Phanom Din and spreading Buddhism to the community in Surin Province. Wat Phra Phutthbat Khao Phanom Din is situated on an important archaeological site in the province, bearing traces of art and antiquities that reflect its role as a community center since ancient times, making it both a place of practice and a source for studying local history.
