Description
Luang Pho Saranth Janthupo, also known as Phra Kru Chantasiridhon, was a venerable abbot of Wat Dong Noi. His birth name was Saranth Niyamsuriyo, born on October 14, B.E. 2490 in Buriram Province. He ordained as a novice monk at age 14 and received full ordination as a bhikkhu on April 18, B.E. 2522. In B.E. 2520, he relocated to Wat Dong Noi for the Buddhist Lent period. In B.E. 2522, he was appointed as deputy abbot, and in B.E. 2526, he was appointed as the abbot of Wat Dong Noi—the same year the first edition Phra Pid Ta amulets were created and released. The first edition Phra Pid Ta was created in B.E. 2526 and incorporated blessed powder from Luang Pho Kaew of Wat Kruea Wan in its creation. Beyond temple development, Luang Pho Saranth promoted Buddhism, organized novice and mass ordination ceremonies, and taught Dharma practice. He was later granted the ecclesiastical title "Phra Kru Chantasiridhon."
