Description
Wat On Amulet Temple (Wat Onangkaram Voravihara) is a second-class royal monastery established during the reign of Rama III by Somdej Phra Chao Borommavongse Thoe Kromma Phra Phitakkha Thewasorn (His Royal Highness Prince Anong). With a history spanning over 190 years, it is an important temple on the Thonburi side of Bangkok. The temple enshrines several significant Buddha images and has served as a center for Buddhist Dharma education and the propagation of Buddhism throughout its history. Somdej Phra Phutthachan (Nuan) was a venerable and accomplished monk of the Thai Sangha, playing an important role in the development of Wat On Amulet Temple in terms of education, restoration, and the creation of sacred objects. His clay amulet from B.E. 2495 is thus considered a significant set of Buddhist amulets with clear historical documentation and has gained popularity among collectors.
