Description
Phra Somdej Khanam Lek powder amulet, created in B.E. 2502 by Luang Pu Lam Phu Chanthakeso of Wat Mai Amathorn (also known as Wat Bang Khun Phrom) in Bangkok. The amulet was distributed to those who participated in meritorious deeds and supported the temple's activities. It is counted among the highly popular powder amulets of the Wat Bang Khun Phrom lineage. Luang Pu Lam Phu Chanthakeso (B.E. 2418–2506) was a virtuous senior monk of Wat Mai Amathorn, recognized for his knowledge in creating powder amulets. He inherited the methods of creating Phra Somdej amulets and the material composition traditions of the Wat Rakhang–Wat Bang Khun Phrom lineage, which made his amulets continually attract the attention of collectors. The Phra Somdej Khanam Lek has a compact size, which is the origin of the name "Khanam" (small). The mold design preserves the distinctive characteristics of the Phra Somdej, including the glass case, the three-tiered base, and the simple Buddha image according to the traditional mold pattern.
