Description
Luang Pho Paep (B.E. 2448–2542) was the abbot who developed Wat Phikul Thong to great prosperity through permanent construction, Buddhist scriptural education, and public charitable works. He initiated the creation of Phra Phuttha Suwan Mongkhon Maha Muni, also known as "Luang Pho Yai" (the Great Buddha), a large Buddha image that became an important symbol of the temple. Wat Phikul Thong is a significant temple of Singburi Province with history tracing back to the Ayutthaya period. It underwent major renovation and development during the time of Luang Pho Paep, becoming a center for Dharma practice and a destination for Buddhists from throughout the country to pay respects.
