Coin Batch 51 – Luang Pu Fhan Acharyo B.E. 2517
Description
Coin Batch 51 of Luang Pu Fhan Acharyo was commissioned in B.E. 2517 as a commemorative item marking the 51st anniversary of the ordination of Luang Pu Fhan Acharyo, a distinguished member of the Sangha whose role was of utmost significance in propagating the Buddhist Dhamma through the forest tradition in Thailand. Luang Pu Fhan Acharyo was a direct disciple of Phra Ajahn Man Bhuridatto, the pre-eminent teacher of the forest tradition of Wat Pa. He was a monk of strict adherence to the monastic discipline and received reverence from both the Bhikkhu Sangha and lay followers throughout the country. During his lifetime, he devoted himself to spreading the Dhamma and established numerous forest temples in the northeastern region of Thailand. Wat Pa Udomsomporn in Sakon Nakhon Province is the temple that Luang Pu Fhan developed into an important center of the forest tradition. The temple grounds are serene and tranquil, conducive to meditation practice, and serve as a destination where disciples and followers from across the country continually make pilgrimages to pay respects.
