Description
Phra Khun Phaen Chai Wramun amulet, made of powder mixed with betel nut and gold leaf, created in B.E. 2543 by Luang Pu Hongsa Phromapanyo of Wat Phetchaburi, Prasart District, Surin Province. Luang Pu Hongsa Phromapanyo (B.E. 2461–2557) was the former abbot of Wat Phetchaburi, Prasart District, Surin Province. He was ordained at a young age and studied Buddhist scriptures alongside occult sciences from several venerable teachers, before dedicating himself to developing the temple and spreading Buddhism throughout his life. Phra Khun Phaen Chai Wramun drew artistic inspiration from ancient Khmer art, which became the distinctive characteristic of many auspicious objects created by Luang Pu Hongsa during the late 1980s. The name "Chai Wramun" evokes the art and history of the ancient Khmer kingdom, a cultural heritage with significant influence over Surin Province. This amulet is made of powder mixed with betel nut, a material found in many auspicious objects created by Luang Pu Hongsa. The betel nut comes from the chewing of betel by the venerable monks and was incorporated into the mixture.
