Phra Mae Phosop by Somdej Phra Phutthajarun Nhuam, Wat Ononkarama, Bangkok B.E. 2495
Description
Phra Mae Phosop was created in B.E. 2495 by Somdej Phra Phutthajarun (Nhuam Phutthasoramahatherah) of Wat Ononkaramaworawihan in Bangkok, as a memorial and to disseminate beliefs concerning Phra Mae Phosop, which is a symbol of abundance in Thai culture. This amulet is one of the creations from the period when Somdej Phra Phutthajarun (Nhuam) held the rank of senior monk and elder of the Thai Sangha. Wat Ononkaramaworawihan is a royal second-class monastery, established during the reign of King Rama III by Somdet Phra Chao Bormwong Thoe, Krom Phra Phitaktheveshan (Prince Anong), son of King Rama I. The king bestowed the temple's name according to his royal name. Within the temple are important Buddha images and architecture reflecting the early Rattanakosin period artistic style.
