Phra Naka Prok Suriyanchandara with Phra Phikhanesop Reverse blessed by Luang Pho Thongchai, Wat Trimit B.E. 2549, small edition. Wat Trimit Witthayaram Worawihan is located in Samphanthawong District, Bangkok. It is a royal temple with a long history. Originally called Wat Sam Chin, named after three Chinese people who jointly founded the temple during the early Rattanakosin period. It was later renovated and renamed Wat Trimit Witthayaram. The temple is highly significant as the home of Phra Buddha Mahasuwan Patimakorn, commonly known as the Golden Buddha of Wat Trimit. This is a large, world-renowned golden Buddha image. Originally the Buddha was covered in plaster before it was discovered to be solid gold when relocated in the middle of the 25th Buddhist century. Currently, Phra Buddha Mahasuwan Patimakorn is enshrined within the Ubosot built to commemorate the 80th Birthday celebration and is considered the spiritual, historical, and tourism center of the temple.
