Loo Mak Coin Luang Pho Seng Wat Bang Na Hanuman Reverse B.E. 2521
Description
The Loo Mak Coin with Hanuman reverse was commissioned in B.E. 2521 by Luang Pho Seng of Wat Bang Na. This is a circular amulet that resembles an automobile wheel hub, which is how the name "Loo Mak Coin" originated in amulet circles. Luang Pho Seng was a revered Buddhist master at Wat Bang Na who played an important role in developing the temple and spreading Buddhism in the area. His amulets were created in various forms, including coins, powder amulets, and talismans, and were primarily made to support the temple's activities and distributed to those who participated in merit-making. This coin series features Hanuman on the reverse, an important character in the Ramakien literary tradition and a symbol that appears on amulets from many schools throughout Thailand. This creation from B.E. 2521 has clear documentation of its production year. The Loo Mak Coin with Hanuman reverse by Luang Pho Seng is thus another sacred amulet that reflects the design style of amulets from the late 2520s decade and the history of Wat Bang Na's amulet production.
