Luang Pu Iam Somdej Amulet B.E. 2515 — Wat Khonon, Silver Mask Navaloha
Description
This somdej amulet of Luang Pu Iam was created by Wat Khonon, located in Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok, in B.E. 2515 to commemorate Luang Pu Iam of Wat Nang, a revered master monk of the Thonburi tradition. He is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist teachers of Thailand during the early Rattanakosin period. The amulet is cast in somdej form, made from navaloha metal with a silver-plated mask—a popular and respected craftsmanship method of that era, valued for both its beauty and the precision of the amulet maker's work. Wat Khonon is an ancient temple with a long history dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Originally a local temple on the banks of Khlong Bang Luang, it has been continuously restored and developed. Inside the temple are several important Buddha images, and it is recognized for the preservation of Thai arts and culture, particularly for maintaining the shadow puppet theatre tradition (Nang Yai), which has been registered as a national cultural heritage.
