Description
Luang Pu Man Bhuridatto (B.E. 2413–2492) was an important disciple of Luang Pu Saor Kantasilo and a key figure in spreading the forest monk tradition throughout the Northeast and Northern Thailand. Throughout his life, he devoted himself to ascetic practice, the development of samadhi and vipassana meditation, as well as the training of numerous Buddhist monks. Many of his disciples later became important elders of Thailand, including Luang Pu Fuan Ajaro, Luang Pu Khao Analayo, Luang Ta Maha Bua Nyanasampaṇṇo, and Luang Pu Chob Thanasamo. Wat Sakkawan is located in the Phu Khum Khao area, Sahasakhan District, Kalasin Province, and is an important temple of the province in both Buddhist affairs and the conservation of natural resources and archaeological heritage. Phu Khum Khao is also known as a significant site for the discovery of prehistoric dinosaur fossils in Thailand, and has since been developed as a center for learning in geology and natural history. This amulet coin is fashioned as a likeness of Luang Pu Man to commemorate his great merits.
